Why can’t a woman go out in public without having to put on her face? I have girlfriends who keep their “faces” in expensive jars and containers. They spend considerable time putting on this face each morning only to wash it off at night. Then they reapply their face the next morning. I see nothing wrong with the perfectly lovely faces they were given. Then women must do their hair, dry, straighten, or curl, and spray. Some men wash their face and barely comb their hair and that’s okay.
Consumerism is boggling. People spend large sums of money to shop for things they don’t need. Then they spend more money to put things in storage.
People pay large sums of money for cable TV to watch other people catch fish and alligators, or to make booze. Why aren’t people spending time DOING something instead of WATCHING others do things?
What passes as food in our glorious nation is appalling. Nitrates, nitrites, trans fat, aspartame, BHA, Propyl gullate, artificial anything, flavor, color….
Gold teeth, who would want them when you’re gone? Are they willed and refitted to a relative of choice? Ick.
People know plastic is junking up the planet, but we all need just one more Barbie, little plastic boxes to hold note paper, and fruit with their own wrappers, wrapped in plastic.
Men kill sharks for a fin then throw the rest of the fish away. Isn’t that like a cannibal cutting off an arm and tossing away the rest of the man? Gross, right?
Old age is treated as a curse or ridiculed. People can be productive and work well into their golden years. Many people must continue to hold a job past retirement age. Older workers show up on time. Don’t call off. Learn new jobs quickly and perform their tasks efficiently. That’s called work ethic and experience. Older people search twice as long as a younger person to land employment. And where are the perks such as vacation and health benefits for a lifetime of dedication and service? Some older people will die at their jobs because minimum wage barely kept them alive. Old age is a privilege not afforded to everyone. Where is the respect for our elders?
On similar note of old age and early death, have we forgotten: polio, tetanus, the flu, diphtheria, hepatitis A & B, rabies, rubella, measles, whooping cough, pneumococcal disease, rotavirus, mumps, chicken pox? Small pox anyone? During the 20th century alone, it’s estimated that smallpox killed 300 million people. Smallpox was considered eradicated worldwide on May 8, 1980 because of a VACCINE.
Worldwide confirmed Covid-19 cases-232,066,390 Covid-19 deaths-4,751,480 as of September 28, 2021. (CDC-Who-ECDC data)
And in the 21st century, people question science only to die of Covid-19 or to pass on the virus and kill others, even those they love, because… why? Seriously, why?
People work so hard to make money then fritter it away only to realize at death they spent so much time working that they never really lived. And they really messed up not only on Earth, but also the Earth.
The Dali Lama says it best…
The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered “Man! Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
Humanity fascinates me, but sometimes I feel like an alien taking some really fucked up notes.
